What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a procedure that uses a special instrument to shave off the superficial layer of dead skin cells. It can be a deep aggressive shaving to improve acne scars, or it can be a light, gentle procedure best used for relatively healthy, smooth skin. At the AmazingFaces Skin Care Center in Dallas dermaplaning is part of the SkinCeuticals Micropeel three-step clinical procedure.

By combining dermaplaning (physical exfoliation), chemical exfoliation, and cryogenic therapy in three steps, it is possible to substantially reduce signs of photoaging including fine lines, brown spots, wrinkles, dullness, and visible skin imperfections, with a series of 4-6 procedures.

This treatment removes the dead cellular layers of skin by gentle shaving the surface after softening the dead cell layer with special exfoliating compounds. Each treatment leaves the skin smooth, clear, and slightly pink for a few hours.

The treatment stimulates new collagen formation to help fill fine lines and improve skin elasticity. You will feel a dramatic improvement in your skin texture. It also removes fine vellus facial hair.

The SkinCeuticals Micropeel three-step procedure takes about forty-five minutes to treat the whole face.  Smaller areas may be treated in a shorter time.  No anesthesia is necessary. 

Aside from a little pink color, there is no visible change in the skin, so you may return to your normal activities immediately after treatment. However, the skin will be silky smooth, bright and clear. The procedure is usually performed at regular intervals to maintain the best skin color, texture, and clarity. The interval is adjusted based on the individual needs of the patient.

Micropeel 20 Solution may only be administered under a physician's scope of practice and by following the SkinCeuticals Micropeel procedure.

Apply one even layer of the peel solution with a soft gauze to the target area. Leave on the skin up to, but no longer than two minutes depending on the paitent's tolerance. After two minutes or at the first sign of redness, neutralize the entire treated area with soft gauze saturated in SkinCeuticals Peel Neutralizer. Rinse the area thoroughly with water-saturated soft gauze.

Apply one even layer of the peel solution with large cotton tip applicator swab or soft gauze to the target area. After five minutes, gently rinse the area thoroughly with water-dampened soft gauze.
